Labels

The applications for automated data collection and labeling in the health care field are limitless.  Some of these applications are listed below

Blank Labels

Bar code label printers can be used for printing of the patient wristband, to the printing of the labels on the products being consumed and dispensed. Portable data terminals are used for bed side scanning, for the dispensing of drugs and administration of medical procedures.  RFID can be used to monitor and control the flow of products and patients throughout the facility. Active RFID tags can be used to track expensive and important assets real time. No more searching for equipment for procedures.

The back office of a hospital is the pharmacy and the labs.  The hidden part of the hospital that is so critical to keeping it running smoothly.  Few other areas of health care can be so dramatically impacted by automation gains from bar code and RFID technology.  The correct medications dispensed quickly, the correct test run on specimens and the results going to the correct patient are but a few of the things that are taken for granted and made more accurate through data collection.

Wireless LAN's
One of the most exciting technologies to come around in the last few years has been RFID.  RFID allows you to put product specific information in your bar code label and to have this data read in an un-attended way.  RFID can greatly increase efficiencies, but is far more complicated than bar code scanning and requires someone with experience and expertise in the technology.  EMP's Tech Group is that expert.  From simple compliance labeling to meet your customers mandate to a full product tracking system utilizing RFID.

Hand Held Bar Code Scanners
A growing trend in the wireless 802.11 world has been to use one centralized switch to handle all of your wireless needs corporate wide.  Symbol Technologies (now Motorola) invented this wireless switch.  The wireless switch architecture allows the intelligence of your wireless infrastructure to all reside in one place. A cool temperature controlled server room.  One point to manager for your entire companies wireless infrastructure.  Access points that simply plug in and work.  Software to view the status of all devices on your wireless infrastructure. Your IT guy is smiling!
